Biography- C.S. Lewis
Clive Staples Lewis was born in 1898 and passed away in 1963. He was born in Belfast, Ireland and went to school at Wynyard School in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. He went to college at Campbell College in Belfast, Ireland but left due to respiratory problems. Shortly after this event, he abandoned his Christian faith. He ends up receiving a scholarship to University College, Oxford. Shortly after this, he enlisted in the British Army and was badly wounded in Battle of Arras. He was discharged from the army in December, 1918. C.S. Lewis then goes on to writing books. His first book was published May 20, 1919. The first book that he had published is called Spirits in Bondage. C.S. Lewis’ father, Albert Lewis, dies in Belfast on September 24th, 1929. Even though he was very depressed, C.S. Lewis goes onto publish many more books. Some of his most well-known books are Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and The Chronicles of Narnia. The Chronicles of Narnia was a series that C.S. Lewis was inspired to write after losing his Christian faith. Lewis created a character named Aslan whom was the God of Narnia. Lewis modeled Aslan after Jesus Christ.
After many years of success, C.S. Lewis’ wife dies on July 13th, 1960. He was then diagnosed with kidney inflammation in June, 1961. He went on to publish A Grief Observed and An Experiment in Criticism. Unfortunately, he died on November 22, 1963. Three of his books were published after he died. They included Letters to Malcom: Chiefly, The Discarded Image, and Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Literature.
Overall, C.S. Lewis was a very successful man who made a large contribution to Children’s literature. He was a respected man and touched the lives of many.

One of his largest influences throughout his writing was Christianity. Lewis modeled The Chronicles of Narnia after the Christian faith shortly after he abandoned his own Christian faith.

I think that I incorporated the information well in order to give the audience a good sense of who C.S. Lewis was as an author.
